Train Surfing Kills
19 February, Cape Town – A 15 year old, Grade 8 student, was electrocuted on his way to school. According to reports he was “Train Surfing”.
Train Surfing not only involves riding on the roof of a train and dodging the wires carrying 3,000 volts, but also running along the train and leaping from each carriage roof to the next. According to reports, surfing on train roofs has become a daily occurrence, despite attempts to prevent this practice. The latest victim apparently brushed against the panto-graph of a motor-coach, marshaled seventh in the set and was killed instantly.
Please be careful when using train services. Playing with your life is not cool!
